As well as the publications listed above with children Mary has also run writing workshops for adults in journaling, poetry and writing for transformation in Sligo, Rathlin Island, Inis Meain and Colorado. She is available for one day workshops or series of workshops.
These workshops are based on a writing technique she has used since 1988 and learned in Cambridge Ma. called journal writing. Mary believes that learning to write requires a continual practise of slipping out of the usual work a day mind and letting go into the creative mind of associations, memories, and unknown waters. Through this way of learning to trust what arises, one gets closer to knowing the core of one's self. Writing that emerges from this place will have depth, sincerity and immediacy.
In her Writing for Transformation workshops, she uses extracts from the Hosahu and guided meditations to facilitate going within, to places in the psyche we mostly avoid. The purpose of this is to dissolve fear, release hurts and judgements, to finding authentic insights, forgiveness of self and others and reveal our inner light when the obscurations are removed.
